Laurel has been referred to as a 'natural life coach'. Dubbed a "DO-ER" , by her friends, she is well known as a person who takes action when needed. A community activist, Laurel is a leader. She believes in the philosophy : "If you do nothing at all, things will remain the same ... " She recognizes all as co-creators of their universe. Her experiences include working with music, producing a CD, songwriting, teaching young children to read, and directing in many areas.
Certified as Lead Teacher & Director II in the state of Massachusetts, Laurel is an expert in the field of Early Childhood and has had almost fifteen years of experience teaching Preschoolers. Parents came to Laurel often for her insights into the intellect of children as she seemed to have a unique understanding of their capabilities. Laurel was responsible for opening two successful preschool classrooms and beginning Early Childhood Programs in Chicopee and Springfield, MA. Her unusually high standards of curriculum for young children while remaining developmentally appropriate won her a strong reputation among parents, who came to respect her ideals. The children Laurel worked with were accepted where they were and invited to grow. Her classroom was a judgment free zone. Her belief in empowering them with responsibility and challenge was transformative. Laurel's "problem solving techniques" were passed on to parents who were amazed by the results as well as the capacity of these little folks. Many began to read as a result of the many activities she exposed them to. She is attuned to detecting issues related to attention deficit disorder as well as sensory integration dysfunction. She has had great success in working with children with behavorial issues. She has also worked one on one with students in a grammar school for the gifted . Laurel earned her B.A. degree from UMass, Amherst and continues to pursue courses of interest from area colleges . She has studied Counseling and has earned a diploma through Stonebridge College, S.A.C. Laurel has come full cirle in her career, currently working with Seniors as a Director, for the City of Springfield. She strives to find them new and challenging activities, and she advocates for them as circumstances dictate.
She is pursuing her passion, using her skills as a natural Life Coach after studing the co-active coaching method, to empower others and inviting them to inquire into their lives. She is adept at guiding people to ask the questions that need to be asked and helping to reveal the answers and options that may need exploration. As your Life Coach, Laurel will lead you through the process of transformation. Through active listening and intuitive response, Laurel will help you to establish your goals. Her personal guided imagery recordings *may* be used within some sessions .
Laurel is currently a certified Reiki I practitioner and as such, will be offering free sessions for a limited time, by appointment. She has also learned the Emotional Freedom Technique of tapping for those with anxiety-related issues.
